The SCASC is a student’s organization that stands for Students Carolina Association of Students council. The Dutch Fork High School was the center of the 60th SCASC Convention that is held annually. This year’s convention saw the participation of about 400 delegates. The convention started off on the evening of March 14 2008. The chief guest of the convention was General Peter Pace who is the former chairman of the joint Chiefs of staffs. The general was also once the principal military advisor to the President and the secretary of the Defense Ministry. The topic in discussion was Leadership a capitol idea. The General on the evening of Friday enlightened the students by lecturing on the different issues regarding leadership as a quality. The address by General Peter Pace was very well received by the delegates. The general also gave all the answers to the questions that were put forward by the assembled delegates. John Beede the speaker from Las Vegas offered an enlightening speech to the students about leadership and the reasons as to why one should nurture the quality. The seminars that were held later dealt with issues like team spirit building and team communication. The session also included the election of the district officers. In dele gates also visited the S.C. state museum. At the fair grounds of Seawell, the function of presenting the awards was conducted. The session was concluded with a dinner and then a dance. Mrs. Georgia Brown was named as the Advisor of the year and Dr. Sherrill Martin was given the award of Administrator of the year. |
