SCASC stands for South Carolina Association of Students Council. The council is a student’s representative body.

The 60th Annual convention of the South Carolina Association of Student Councils was held at the Dutch fork high school. Over 400 delegate of the council actively participated in the event.

The chief guest invited at the convention was General Pete Pace. General Pace was the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was also the principal military advisor of the president. He also for some period of time served the secretary of the Defense Ministry. He was also a very active member of the National Security Council.

The first session of the convention took place on the evening of Friday 14th of March. The General presented before the participants the importance of leadership. He also gave extremely satisfactory answers to the students after the face to face questions round.

John Beede who had arrived from Las Vegas lectured the assembly about the importance of leadership. He also stated the importance of setting up goals to the delegates. The seminars that were conducted presented before the delegates different lessons like team spirit, team communication and skills like public address and speech making.   

In the evening the delegates visited the S.C state museum. At the Seawell State Fairground the assembled delegates attended the awards giving program. The day was concluded with a dinner and also a dance.  

The trophy of the Advisor of the year was bagged by Georgia Brown while Dr. Sherrill Martin was named as the Administrator of the year.
